Up to 25 % of the Arabidopsis genes can respond to low external Fe supply, some of them representing robustly Fe-regulated genes. We use information of the coexpression cluster of robustly Fe-regulated genes to define subnetworks of coexpressed genes, regulated by different transcription factors in roots and leaves. This co-expression information provides a framework to search for novel players in Fe uptake regulation and determine novel protein functions through analysis of putative cis-regulatory elements, protein-protein interactions and functional gene analysis.
