22 May, 2025

Advanced polymeric membranes developed by Professor Suzana Nunes are helping deliver cleaner water for communities and improve efficiency in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries — contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous future.

Her long-standing leadership in the field has been recognized with her election as a fellow of the North American Membrane Society, one of the highest honors in membrane science and engineering.

“This is a meaningful honor for me,” said Nunes. “It reflects years of collaboration, mentorship, and shared passion within the membrane science community. While I am deeply honored by this recognition, the true reward lies in witnessing the impact of our work and of the membrane field as a whole. By combining chemistry and engineering in advanced polymeric membranes, we’re enabling cleaner water for communities, more efficient processes in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and prosperous future.”
