A new venture built on KAUST research is set to help farmers increase crop productivity while reducing reliance on resource-intensive agricultural inputs.
During the 4th MEWA–KAUST Strategic Partnership Committee Meeting, namya was officially inaugurated in the presence of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA). The venture, created through a collaboration between KAUST and SEQUENCIVE, will commercialize KAUST’s MiZax technology, turning years of research into advanced bioactive products for agricultural use.

MiZax was developed through more than a decade of research led by BESE Professor of Plant Science Salim Al-Babili and his team. Trials across multiple crops and regions, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Taiwan, have shown promising results: higher yields, improved resilience to stress, and a reduced need for fertilizers. Importantly, MiZax has performed at far lower application rates than conventional biostimulants used for comparison.
The launch also highlights the impact of BESE research in driving innovation from the laboratory to real-world application, creating pathways for science to deliver tangible benefits for society.
