Abstract:
Inoculation and co-inoculation of crops with beneficial microorganisms have multifaceted benefits such as enhancing nutrition, productivity and quality of agricultural products. Farmers are increasingly suffering due to climate change, soil degradation and high fertilizer prices. Therefore, proper fertilization management is essential to satisfy plant nutrition correctly without affecting nutrients and/or soil fertility. In this sense, balanced plant nutrition will provide greater productivity and quality of agricultural products, such as agronomic biofortification. Thinking about the sustainability of the agroecosystem, research that seeks to increase the efficiency of mineral fertilizers, especially nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers, is extremely important. Therefore, for this, the most sustainable and intelligent solution is the inoculation or co-inoculation of cultivated plants with plant growth-promoting bacteria, nitrogen-fixing bacteria and microorganisms that solubilize phosphate and other nutrients. These multiple mechanisms of action of microorganisms combined can increase the nutrient absorption and nutrient use efficiency, productivity and quality of agricultural products in tropical soils, enabling food security within the climate change scenario.
