Abstract:
The talk, aimed for Masters and PhD students, will provide an overview of a career path in Metabolic engineering / Synthetic Biology. This includes expertise gained at different locations and some lessons learned along the way. 

Bio:
Dr. Ahmed Zahoor ul Hassan is currently involved in evaluating ideas and managing projects focused on the biotechnological production of fragrance ingredients at Givaudan. Prior to this, Dr. Zahoor gained business development expertise working for a company specializing in protein engineering. He completed PhD in bacterial strain development at Bielefeld University, followed by post-docs at research institutes in Germany. During this time period, he worked on engineering bacterial and yeast strains for the production of molecules of industrial relevance. Beyond his interests in Biotechnology, Dr. Zahoor enjoys reading books on diverse topics, travelling the world and learning new languages.
