Two researchers from Professor Lukasz Jaremko’s Molecular Diagnostics and Drug Discovery Lab (MD3) have been recognized for their innovative work at the 30th International Conference on Magnetic Resonance in Biological Systems (ICMRBS 2024), held from August 18-23, 2024, in Seoul, Korea. The ICMRBS conference is a leading global event for scientists working in the field of bioNMR.
Post-Doctoral Fellow Spyridon Gourdoupis received the prestigious Junior Scientist Award for his groundbreaking work in anticancer drug development. During the conference, Dr. Gourdoupis delivered an opening lecture outlining his innovative approaches to drug design, which aim to improve therapeutic strategies against cancer.
PhD student Kacper Szczepski, studying bioscience at KAUST, was awarded the Best Poster Award for his research on novel drug design methodologies using bioNMR. His presentation highlighted new techniques for developing anticancer compounds, emphasizing the cutting-edge research being conducted in the MD3 Lab in collaboration with KAUST's Smart Health Initiative.
"Our lab is committed to pushing the boundaries of molecular diagnostics and drug discovery," said Lukasz Jaremko, head of the MD3 Lab. "These awards sweeten the hard work and dedication of our team and the significant impact of our innovative research in the fight against cancer.”
The awards spotlight KAUST's leadership in the field of bioscience, particularly in the development of next-generation therapies that address some of the world's most pressing health challenges.
