11 February, 2025

In recognition of International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11, the Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering Division (BESE) celebrates the vital contributions of women to scientific advancement.

The BESE Division is dedicated to fostering gender diversity in science, creating an environment where women excel in research and innovation. With 20% female faculty, 62% female students, and 65% of alumnae contributing to Saudi Arabia's scientific progress, the division demonstrates a commitment to gender diversity and inclusivity.

"Women in science at KAUST are catalysts of innovation, breaking barriers, and paving the way for a brighter scientific future," said Iain Young, Dean of BESE.

The dedication and achievements of BESE women in science are inspiring. Recent accolades include L'Oréal-UNESCO Middle East Young Talents awards, European Membrane Society Honorary Membership, and BCG V60 Awards for climate leadership, highlighting the exceptional talent and contributions of women in the field.
