Prof. Alexandre Rosado Elected Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology

BESE’s Prof. Alexandre Rosado has been named a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. This prestigious recognition honors his outstanding contributions to the field of microbiology and his impact on advancing scientific research. Selected through a highly competitive peer-review process, he joins the distinguished Class of 2025, representing excellence in microbiological sciences. Rosado’s scientific journey began at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, where he laid the foundation for his career. Four years ago, he joined KAUST, where he continues to push scientific boundaries in microbiology. “The dynamic environment and cutting-edge resources at KAUST have allowed me to dream big,” Rosado said. “It truly feels like living a dream.”

 

A dedicated mentor and communicator, Rosado has inspired many young scientists. His students hold him in high regard, including Lila Aldakheel, who recently received two awards under his guidance at KAUST. “Having Professor Rosado as my Principal Investigator has provided me with exceptional opportunities, including being awarded the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Middle East Regional in 2023 and V60 Award from Boston Consulting Group in 2024. He is not only an outstanding professor but also offers unwavering support to all lab members. I feel lucky to be one of his students”.

 

Rosado is also committed to advancing research and innovation in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East, building collaborations that strengthen the scientific ecosystem. “None of these projects and achievements would be possible without the full support of KAUST, I am beyond grateful to be here”, he said.
