How do I fill out an application for KAUST?

Follow this link to complete an online application.

- A score of 79 on the TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test) or 6.0 on the IELTS is required (not required if the applicant received a degree from an accredited institution in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand)
- Official transcripts (and/or certified English translation)
- 3 letters of reference
- Curriculum Vitae
- Statement of Purpose

M.S. students are admitted without a confirmed supervisor for research. Ph.D. students must get a full-time KAUST faculty member to agree to supervise their Ph.D. before they are admitted to KAUST.

You can earn a M.S. or Ph.D. in 4 BESE programs; Bioscience, Plant Science, Marine Science, and Environmental Science and Engineering.
​M.S. students need 36 credits (combination of courses and research is specific to your program).  
Ph.D. students need 6 credits of 300-level coursework and will earn dissertation research credit each semester until they defend (no minimum credits established, although there is a minimum residency requirement of 2.5 years).  Ph.D. students must also successfully defend their proposal and final dissertation defense, and archive in the KAUST repository.  
Both M.S. and Ph.D. students have to attend program seminars and successfully complete the Winter Enrichment Program (WEP).

​Full tuition support, Monthly living allowance (ranging between $20,000-30,000 annual, depending on qualifications and progression through degree programs), housing, medical and dental coverage, relocation support .

GRADUATE PROGRAM COORDINATORS


KAUST’s Graduate Program Coordinators are trained to address your academic questions, evaluate your progress in your program, and update you on current university policies and procedures. We are the liaison with the Dean, faculty, Graduate Affairs, the Registrar’s Office, Admissions, and the VP for Academic Affairs Office. Through our administrative experience and knowledge about the graduate programs, we can help make your learning experience even more enriching and inspiring.
